A Different Road

Sometimes the world reveals what appears to be the obvious choice.  But it is the “road not taken” that holds adventure and unimaginable joy.  }:- a.m.

There was a young man who excelled at the sport of futbol (soccer)… national championships and personal accolades were his.  The world would say “Go for it!  Achieve greatness!”  But from childhood his passion was basketball…a chip off his father’s block so to speak.

So it was that at the peak of his young soccer career, he abandoned it all to pursue basketball.  The road ahead was uncertain but he trained daily at every spare moment.  Oh he did not neglect academics knowing that that was part of the journey, but he followed his heart, his passion.

The way ahead has become somewhat more clear, yet still with many unknowns.  But he simply plays with energy fueled by passion.  Humble unselfish teammate, his mates chose him as their captain.  But he doesn’t shout or direct, just models and guides through his on court play and leadership…points, assists and steals all come naturally as he does.  Everyone is made better by his presence on the floor with them.

His coaches say he’s the future of their program, but he just lives in the moment.  He knows that the way is made by walking in it one step at a time…one basket at a time.

So good and such a joy to watch…⚽️
