Our family has had connections with Aaron Rodgers since his youth, primarily his later Chico, CA period. I first met him when a friend brought him to Young Life camp at Woodleaf, CA. At the time he was a student athlete at Pleasant Valley HS in Chico. Since I’ve always been a student of the game as well as player, I followed Aaron’s career, (he’s the same age as my oldest son). Aaron’s best friend from high school married a good friend of my #2 son from his high school. Those connections were made after Aaron left Butte College and went to Cal (Berkeley) for that now famous college career that would lead him later to Green Bay. And at Green Bay he again entered our lives as we are Packers owners (shareholders).
But somewhere along his journey Aaron got a bit “spiritually” lost, maybe some would say just “worldly” from fame and fortune. However, if one looks closely one will see a lost young man trying to find the “compass” for his life. Sadly, turning to conspiracy theorists and ayahuasca hasn’t served him well. And now in the twilight of his hall of fame career (some would say the end), I’m not sure what Aaron will do with his life…maybe that game show host gig?! 😜
He has left a wreckage of personal relationships with both family and close friends. The friends have been more kind or just silent, unlike his own family. I find myself just feeling sorry for a personable, humble young man that is another case of letting things go to your head…and forgetting that place of wisdom in your heart.
