Abide
Be with Divine LOVE and listen. Listen to the Lover of your soul who invites you. Be quiet. Like a child dwells in the house with her mother and father. Just abide. Play around. Be there. A half hour a day. Is it possible? Is it possible for half an hour? Just be there. Sit there and do nothing. Waste time with Jesus. That is what love does. —Henri Nouwen and }:- a.m.
If nothing else just go sit out in a backyard or park in a quiet spot. Or as Abba Moses would say, “Go into your room and close the door.” You don’t have to do, say or read anything, but if it helps, meditate on a short passage of favorite scripture, or perhaps even a poem. God is eternal Divine Presence and inhabits every goodness in the Universe. You may be surprised by an experience of Divine LOVE when you least expect it. Of course with practice you will come to anticipate it.
"The Lover of our souls is our Good Shepherd Who guides us to rest in quiet meadows and quenches our thirst with living water. They restore our very soul and lead us on paths of right living for LOVE's sake.” —from Psalm 23, “moosage” version
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a field. I'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
Doesn't make any sense.”
—Rumi as translated by Coleman Barks
(I AM, Divine LOVE Themselves, will meet us there.)
God is LOVE and LOVE always invites, always includes. Accept the invitation, receive the embrace…
