Why Read Books
No book is perfect, as authors will tell you, but if it touches something in the reader it is good.
If it brings a bit of laughter and joy, that is perhaps the best, as we all need it.
Prompting our own search for truth and love is how some author’s hearts shake hands with ours.
Some authors like to take us into deep darkness, but I prefer those who show us the light therein as well.
And then there are the poetry collections, like a medicine cabinet for the soul.
Some of you know that sacred scripture does all of the above. Though man has written, God is the true author there.
So do keep books always nearby, at hand. And friends too, for in sharing is true relationship with one another and the authors too.
Lastly, don’t forget to put them down and go out for a walk. In this way experience the fullness of what you may have read and perhaps Divine LOVE too.
Discover that field Rumi wrote of, or the flute of Hafiz. The ten thousand places of GMH and all the mystic saints who dwell therein.
Yes go out on a walkabout of dreams and visions. Experience fully the Liturgies Of The Wild as one author puts it. Let nature and others write your own personal epilogue
